Generative Zero

Generative Zero is a project that explores generative design without the use of computational tools. Inspired by Kazimir Malevich’s Black Square and the principles of Suprematism, we developed a set of typographic compositions and a rule-based algorithm for participants to follow. Without seeing the compositions beforehand, participants selected one, cut it into pieces, and rearranged them around the black square according to the given rules. During the process, they worked independently, focusing only on the instructions to generate a unique composition.
